He'd been tired and grumpy for a while now. Of course, Bulba had always kept a smile on around everyone else. He didn't need to bring down anyone's day or worry anyone just because he'd been feeling frustrated.

And oh boy had he been feeling frustrated.

The feeling had been growing ever since Green had left. He was still upset over being left behind, but was that really surprising? He had issues just being in a different room than him when they first showed came to the school. But it wasn't as though this was the first time he had left, so Bulbasaur was growing frustrated with his own feelings. He should have bucked up by now.

The talk with Char hadn't helped. Now he just kept all his thoughts tucked neatly away in the back of his mind. They sat where no one else could hear them, but they certainly weren't quiet.

They had only grown louder as more things happened. From low whispers of doubt to a dull roar of uncertainty. He hadn't been able to do a damn thing for Char and it killed him. He couldn't stop him. He couldn't help him. He couldn't even keep up. His wounds were healed, the burns ghosts of what they once were. Everyone else was coming back. Char wasn't happy, but he certainly wasn't dead. Yet the what ifs kept rolling around in his mind and Bulba couldn't push them out no matter how much he tried.

He was supposed to be getting stronger, but was he really?

He was just so tired of it. All he wanted to do was lay out in the sun and pretend everything was okay. So when he wasn't occupied with class or training or putting a smile on his face for his friends, that's exactly what he did. He would find the sunniest spot in the gardens and lie there for as long as he was able, basking in the warmth and feeling just a little better.

But it was hard to pretend everything was okay.

He really was just a dinky, whiny Bulbasaur, wasn't he?
